Come and show me what you are making!
I have a supply of baby blankets that I keep for presents. Have just completed two cushions for my study.
Would like some ideas and inspiration for other bits to do please.

I wanted some more complex crochet to add interest, so have done the fruit garden blanket (Janey Crowe) and painted roses blanket (Cherry Heart) fairly recently.

Now working on the Sedona pullover (The Cosy Knot), which is working up nicely.

What size of project are you looking for? At this time of year I make some lace baubles and snowflakes. Scarves are another seasonal option. Sophie’s Universe and Persian Tiles are two popular full size blankets if you’re looking for something big.

Hi, do you have any recommendations for snowflake patterns? I've found a few on ravelry but haven't made a start yet.
I'd like to do some to hang for Christmas decs

Mumblesomething · 18/11/2023 18:26

@LucyLoopyLu Snowcatcher is good for free written patterns (US terms)
If you’re ok with diagrams there are some here and you can find lots on Pinterest.

Caitlin Sainio has published a couple of books. It looks like they’re both out of print but you can find them second hand. Depending on your level of experience crochet snowflakes step by step can be a good introduction. 100 snowflakes has some more straightforward patterns as well. Her books use UK terms.

I like Kathryn A Clark’s patterns as well. I’m not sure if White Christmas in Thread Crochet is in print or not. The patterns you can get on her website are great although not the most straightforward. She has a couple of free patterns here.

If you’re new to thread crochet I’d start with some of the simpler patterns until you get used to the tension etc. Ergonomic hooks like crochet amour can also be a good idea to save your hands.

@Mumblesomething wow, thanks for taking the time to write such a thorough reply! I'll be checking all of those out, thank you

My son does amigurumi. He's made some lovely little toys based on characters from computer games and cartoons. He also made me a fantastic Dalek tea cosy.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 18/11/2023 22:53

@Pashazade Shock That's awesome!

I'm just making a very, very slowly-growing heap of granny squares Grin

Redshoeblueshoe · 18/11/2023 22:58

Jackles I made a dalek it was like an egg cosy.
I've also started doing some free form crochet, just look on Pinterest it's great

I'm making a colourful blanket with odd balls of yawn left over from other projects and the left overs from this will be to make little motif purses.

I recently made an oversize shrug cardigan for myself, now working on another one for my DD.

Also just finished a baby set for a friends newborn, I made a blanket, 2 hats, booties & a bunny lovey comforter.

MissMuffetisin · 23/11/2023 15:10

Finished Bingo now too. Although I realise no one without pre school children will recognise them !

I've now put down my blanket because I saw a crochet granny balaclava and I went to Hobbycraft today and bought some more yarn to make a few.

Wendy with wool dk. Using a 5mm hook instead of the recommended 4mm.

And this one which has a different arrangement of squares

I am thoroughly enjoying making this blanket: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/persian-tile-blanket in a very different colourway. I'm on the border now, and have gone rogue making up my own borders. Never done that before, and have no idea whether it will work, or I'll end up with a Gees Bend style wonky blanket of loveliness.

The pattern is repetitive enough to lean by heart, but varied enough to not be boring. It is also extremely well-written.

I made a Christmas beret. For my works Xmas do we have to make and wear our own hats!
