Advent calendars

If you have a reusable advent calendar with little boxes or pouches, what do you put in them? Grateful for any ideas, especially of the non-plastic-tat variety.

Thank you!

Miniatures of alcohol, personally. Depends who the calendar is for, though. Most small children aren't keen on strong spirits.

Are you meaning specifically Arts & Crafts related items?

Haha, sorry, I should've specified, I'm making the calendars for children. Boys aged 3 & 6.

I posted in arts and crafts as I didn't really know where to put it and the calendar will be crafted by me. But any suggestions of crafty things little boys (with variable levels of concentration) can do would be welcome.

Last year we divided up Lego sets and the kids did a bit each day, finally discovering what they were building. Worked really well for one, not so much for the other. (Both 9 yr olds)

When DS was younger...

Pokémon cards
Match Attax
Hot Wheels cars
Bouncy balls
Schleich figures
Erasers
Lego figures
Chocolate

I'm sure there were more but can't remember - basically the same tat you would get in a party bag, but wrapped up so it seemed more of a treat.

Now he's older (teenager) we use the same calendar but with a variety of Christmas chocolates (coins, Malteser reindeer, Lindt Santa etc.) but still wrapped up to maintain the surprise. Wish I'd done this option all along to be honest, it's much easier!

Tubes of glitter glue, and hatchimals were always a win too. I usually add a chocolate coin in each one as well.

I put 2 little chocolates in each day, 1 for each of my kids. No toys. Toys in an advent calendar are another over commercialisation of Christmas. It's meant to get a little countdown. Not a massive thing.
I do go mad and mix up the chocolates.
