How to add strap to book bag that doesn’t have hooks

DC’s book bag just has a small carrying strap on the top. It’s one of the thin primary school bags. I’d like to attach a strap so I can sling it over my shoulder. The bag doesn’t have hooks that I could attach a strap to. I thought press-on type clips like you get on mitten clips might work but don’t know what they’re called and googling is not helping. Grateful for any ideas anyone might have.

I think they are called brace/s clips. Like This from Ebay

Search for book bag buddies. These just clip on on the edge of the bag. Mine have been used continuously all through infants
