Please recommend me a crochet scarf kit

It's for my older teen DD who likes to do a bit of crochet, she's made lots of granny squares (she's planning to make a bag) and some (slightly mis-shapen) xmas decorations for the tree last year. I'd like to get her a crochet scarf kit but I'm not a crafter myself so I don't know where to begin. It's too confusing for me to choose wool and separate pattern, a kit would be easier for me to purchase. Where should I look?

If you have a local yarn shop, you could pop in and ask them to put a kit together for you to suit budget and style?

Kits are often overpriced for what you get. I second what @Twosticksandstring suggests. Choose maybe two patterns, a simple one and a harder one, and two choices of yarn for each (make sure you get enough!) - if she gets into crochet she will find uses for the rest of the yarn.

Get her a book, or a few from the library. Most of them have detailed explanations of how to do the different stitches.

I agree that kits are overpriced, I just looked on John Lewis and some of their kits are very overpriced, there’s one that was about £22 but the contents of the kit were worth about £6. It might be better to get a book for example this one CIY: Crochet-It-Yourself: 15 Modern Crochet Designs to Stitch and Wear.

Or have a look at patterns on Ravelry.com. You probably have a good idea at what sort of styles and colours your dd like. https://www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/ is a good source for wool. Once you have found a pattern you like, the pattern will tell you what yarn is required.
