First ever amigurumis, crocheting for 3 years.

Just started a few amigurumi pieces after 3 years of sticking to blankets, hats, ponchos, Christmas stockings and a few bags.

I don't know if it counts as amigurumi if they are BIG pieces, I've popped my 6.5mm crochet hook into the pic for scale, but the large pumpkin is the size of an actual giant pumpkin and the octopi are about the size of a football. The pink one is still under construction.

I did the octopi in pushy/chenille yarns and I found it really hard to see the stiches. I felt like I needed a "sharper" crochet hook to get into the stitches. Is there such a thing?, Like, pointier to help dig into those fluffy stitches?

Anyway, what do you think for my first attempt at amigurumi?

The octopi are cute. My DD self taught crochet and loves doing those little animals but doesn't know how to do blankets. You should team up 😂

My preferred hook is cover soft touch every time. Not sure which it is but I don't amigurumi. It's just not my thing but I know i will one day 🙄😁

Wasn't sure what I was going to see when I opened that! Have seen some "adult" crochet when googling things to make haha!

I wondered what obscene crochet I was going to be subjected to.

And yet still clicked so fast I broke a nail.

I've ordered the Susan Bates crochet hook set, they do look slightly more pointy than the hooks I am using so will hopefully help me get through those chunky fluffy stitches better. Thanks!
