DIY Musketeer costume?

Hi,
We are invited to a fancy dress party and are thinking the 3 musketeers might be fun. Off to the fabric shop today to have a mooch and I feel reasonably confident I can make tabards.

Not sure about what to do for hats though, any suggestions please? Also, anyone ever made those fake boot legs? Thanks

Have a look in charity shops for hats, especially with deep brims, then decorate them with feathers, and bands of fabric.

Buy an old leather jacket from a charity shop and cut off the arms, put the arms on your legs and fold them over and then put leather boots on that are the same colour.

Also you can modify an old hat with black duct tape.

Thanks @AdaColeman and @Franticbutterfly
I also need silver ribbon or trim to edge the tabard. Any suggestions? Trim seems v expensive, but ribbon is a tab underwhelming. 🤔

Overlock stitch or roll hem the edges of the tabards or bind with cheap bias binding, then use metallic adhesive washi tape to decorate them? The costume only has to survive for one night, so durability shouldn't be problem.
