Candle making for beginners

I saw some beautiful candles on holiday but couldn’t spare the suitcase space to bring them back. I have trawled the internet and can’t find anything similar, but I have found a silicone cake ‘tin’ a similar shape.

Am I right in thinking I could melt candle wax, pour it into the cake mould, and leave to set? Would I be able to add a wick to the top of it in any way (so when I unmould, if you imagine a rectangle shape, I want the wick coming from one of the short edges rather than out of the middle of the tin)? Presumably if I wasn’t too bothered about it burning for very long then I could shoehorn a wick in somewhere?

I'd try placing the wick at the base of the mould, pouring the wax in, and use some sort of a dowel to hold the wich at the point where you want the end to be.
I've never made candles, so it's only a thought.
You could do an online search to see if you find anything.
