Help re Shop on Online Platform

I am considering opening a shop on an online platform and wondered what I need ? Any help gratefully received.

I make home decor textile items (not toys)

• Do I need insurance ? Nothing I make has any dangerous parts etc
• National Insurance (I have not been employed for 18yrs since having my daughter) so should I be paying ? I don't expect to earn above £12,500
• Anything else I should be thinking about ?

Every business should have insurance.

Have you done a business plan? Do you know your market? Know what your products will cost you to make and what they'll realistically sell for? Have you made samples and asked for honest feedback?

If you don't think you'll earn enough to have to pay ni you should still make the voluntary contributions to avoid any gaps so you get your full pension.

If it is online platform I can recommend WordPress with WooCommerce.
