I’ve never made a lining before, but my chosen fabric is sheer.
as you can see from the photo, I’ve attached it round the neck and it looks good.

Is there a way I can do the armholes too? 🤔

So is that a facing rather than a lining?

A lining would be a duplicate top sewn inside, so when you turn it inside out it looks almost the same

Whereas a facing would be an inch or two round the neck sleeves and sometimes hem

I'll.look for some pictures hang on

Could only find pics of facings

But I found a lining tutorial for a vest top

Google "burrito method". It is a weird thing where you roll the item up , sew it all inside when you sew the edge and then you pull it out. My brain can't quite comprehend how it works unless it utilises some rift in space.

Thank you!

I would use the burrito method as well if it's fully lined

if it's just a facing I would just finish the armholes with a bias binding.

is it a self drafted pattern?

KatyMac · 12/04/2023 19:44

@SoupDragon is completely right it's a rift in time and space but it works

Thedishonthecoffeetable · 12/04/2023 20:05

Wow, that certainly is magic! Reminds me a bit of the california roll for putting a duvet cover on

oh and total thread derailment but OMG soupdragon of soupdragon's flapjack fame and other stories is also a sewist?!

That makes me glad. As does your flapjack.

SoupDragon · 12/04/2023 22:11

If you'd watched me incorrectly sewing a zip into the jacket I'm making three times today you'd be less impressed 😂😂

Forgot to say: it’s a lining. I’m going into @KatyMac ‘s tutorial. See you on the other side!
