Hi,

I have been learning to knit socks. I followed this pattern calculator for the heel turn. I had 30 stitches to start, followed the instructions until I had 1 stitch left on each side of gap, finished on a wrong side but I have 18 stitches in total left (1 still on lhn) not 17 total, did I go wrong somehow?
I counted i'd done 12 rows in all. 2 Images attached.

Just slip it onto your working needle and carry on! You can lose it in the gusset decreases later. The odd stitch doesn't matter in plain socks with no pattern.

I always recommended Winwick Mum for learning as she's super good at explaining.

That’s what I’d do too, it really won’t show or make any difference (I’ve occasionally lost a stitch or two too!)

Thank you both! 😀

@SinisterKnitter Totally agree 🙂 I began my first pair with a Winwick mum pattern.

@Mistymoonsinastarrysky lol, thanks.

It's dead easy to mix and match with socks so once you've found your perfect heel you can use it with any sock pattern, likewise the toe box. Don't feel you have to stick to what the designer uses!

@SinisterKnitter Thank you 😊
