I went for 4 wax: 3 resin plus a bit of jojoba

But they aren't very sticky so I don't know if I need a different recipe or if I haven't coated them enough

Any ideas?

I made them just literally using beeswax. It's ages ago, but I'm pretty sure the method I followed was basically like this - so grating the wax over the cotton, then using an iron / greaseproof paper to melt & spread it. I've been using them for really ages (we made them when dd was at school, & she's about to turn 21) & they work well.

I just use beeswax pellets, grease proof paper and an iron.

Agreed that I've never seen a recipe that includes resin. I've made it by the ironing method and by just melting the beeswax then dipping the cotton fabric.

Less wax wastage with the ironing method, but easy to have gaps and less coverage in parts.

More wax needed for the dipping method but end up with better soaking and coverage so overall the wraps worked better and lasted longer.

And did the stick ok all the recipes I've seen say the pine resin helps with sticking

I’ve done with and without the resin and with is definitely better. But I haven’t done them for years so I can’t help with the recipe, sorry

I wonder if i didnt use enough?

The resin was very difficult to melt and to mix in with the wax but it has stayed mixed now its dry

I intend tobgrate the blocks over the cloth on a hot plate and then use greaseproof and an iron

We will see

Although I may have contact dermatitis from either the resin or the jojoba!!!

I put them in the oven, which isn’t dipping or ironing! I do the same to refresh old ones, too

So it could be my recipe, my method or how thick the wax layer is

It's like being at school again!

Thanks @bigbadbarry
