Pattern for Mindful crochet blanket

I'm after a pattern for a blanket that is like (or even better, is!) this one.
The Ravelry link (www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mindful-blanket) says it's been discontinued. And when I Google, I come up with the original CAL but the link has expired.
It doesn't have to be exactly like this - I just really like the idea of something that mixes stripes and granny squares (not least because the granny squares are nicely portable but the stripes mean less sewing in) and I love the colours. This would have been the perfect project so if anyone knows of anything similar I'd be so grateful. I can do most things with good instructions - I did the Eastern Jewels pattern successfully and did a multi stitch type project a couple of years ago but can't find the pattern anywhere.

It's beautiful. Have you tried asking on Ravelry? I've always had useful answers on there.

That is lovely. If you are am experienced crocheter, do you really need instructions for such a blanket?

Make a bunch of identical 3 or 4 row granny squares and lay them out in a line (or crochet them together as you go along) until you've got a line that is as long as the width you want the blanket to be. The number of squares multiplied by the number of stitches along one side of the square will give you the number of stitches in each non-squares row. Then just keep going with strips of squares and rows of stitches until the blanket is long enough.

Look up different granny squares and row patterns on Ravelry or elsewhere for inspiration.

@WashAsDelicates I am obviously not that experienced as that never occurred to me! But yes, I could do that. I'd miss some of what I am sure is lovely detail but I can probably figure a lot of it out.

And @ifIwerenotanandroid I've never actually posted on Ravelry. Always been a bit daunted by the prospect but I've heard good things so will give it a go.

Ravelry is lovely. Very like Mumsnet in terms of helpfulness and mutual interests.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 23/02/2023 17:44

You could do some granny squares as WashasDelicates suggests and then maybe look at coastal crochet blog seaside stash buster blanket for row ideas. It’s a love pattern of different stitches for each row and would lend itself lovely to the colours in that blanket.

Coastal crochet has some great blankets which are a mix of squares and rows as well.

Coastal Crochet seaside stash buster! That was the one i did where I learned all the new stitches, and it was lovely. So that is super helpful because armed with that plus the granny squares I am sure I can figure something out.
Thanks so much.

Looking at the comments for the pattern, 5 months ago the designers were looking at how to make the pattern available again.

SoupDragon · 23/02/2023 22:02

Looks like they didn't succeed though

Could you do this one www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/spice-of-life-blanket and add in rows of granny squares every so often? You'd need to work the stitch counts so the squares fit along the rows but it shouldn't be too tricky.

LaurelGrove · 24/02/2023 09:32

I wonder what stopped them from putting it back on the website? Surely the copyright is theirs.

I feel emboldened by this and up for giving it a go. I'm not very good with colour but actually the recipient has some quite specific colour requirements so perhaps I'll just be guided by them. I'm going to make enough granny squares to form a row, then stitch them together and do the stripes. I know from experience with the other multi-stitch blanket that the number of stitches is quite important for repeats but I reckon I can probably make it work if I'm careful! May require being slightly selective with the stitches I pick but I'll just remind myself of the Amish thing about only God being perfect and therefore all craft needing mistakes - it's my crochet mantra!

There's this one too sirdar.com/en/products/sweet-blossom-blanket-in-hayfield-bonus-dk which would be quite easy to add some granny squares into

Wow, love this blanket, I’ve just printed it out ready to make once I finish a mosaic one I’ve just started! I have enough wool in my stash to make it without buying any more - in theory!

Haha! - we all know how that ends up...

Ha ha! Yes. DS wants very particular colours so inevitably I'm going to end up buying more even though I am drowning in Stylecraft DK. Contemplating making a baby blanket for a pregnant colleague just to get through it.
