Recommendations where to buy yarn online please

I’m not a crafty type. My DD has just learnt to crochet and so far we’ve been buying yarn at Hobbycraft - she likes the Ricorumi yarns. She’d like a wider range of colours to chose from so online seems the way to go.

She found a site called Woolbox but the reviews are mixed and I am wary after a very poor experience elsewhere (different items). On EBay you seem to have to pay postage for each ball ordered.

It is DD’s birthday soon - are those big packs of yarn (there is a Ricorumi set of 60!) a good gift or is having that many shades overkill?

Thanks

Wool Warehouse. Great choice for all budgets and speedy delivery

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 16/02/2023 21:15

Another vote for Wool Warehouse.

I came on to say Wool Warehouse too. Great choice of yarn (no idea if they do the one you mentioned), good prices, excellent service. I use them frequently.

Never heard of woolbox, which would bother me as I am an avid knitter and buy supplies all the time from numerous websites. Never come across that one.

Another vote for Wool Warehouse.

LoveCrafts occasionally has 20% off almost everything if you spend over £35, just for one day. You probably have to be on their mailing list to find out when, but it’s a good time to stock up eg on Stylecraft Special DK. That comes in a wide colour range and is good value, but acrylic.

Would also recommend Wool Warehouse, nowhere else comes close for selection and service.

Just looked at woolbox. It just has a PO box as it's address and I don't like that. Wool Warehouse has a proper geographical address, which I like.

I think you are supposed to have this by law in the distance selling regulations, but that may have changed.

maybekauri · 16/02/2023 21:28

Thanks - I’m off to Wool Warehouse!

Woolbox was coming up first on my Google search for Ricorumi yarn but that isn’t a recommendation!

Another vote for wool warehouse, I've been buying yarn from them for years, great customer service and fast delivery. If you sign up for the newsletter, you might get a discount code too.

knittingaddict · 16/02/2023 21:29

Sorry for all the posts, but I just checked the DSR and they are supposed to supply a geographical address by law.

It's something I always look for. If they are going to ignore one law what else are they going to be slapdash about?

Wool box, wool warehouse, lovecrafts and hobbi are places I go for yarn. No issue with any of them. Wool box are brilliant and often do crochet-a-longs with designers.

Thanks for your research knittingaddict.

This shop is great. Local business (not to me!) but I found them online and they have been great Wool Zone

UKNZKiwiBrit · 16/02/2023 21:40

Another Wool warehouse fan. Never been disappointed & great customer services.

Pashazade · 16/02/2023 21:48

If you use WoolWarehouse you can often get a ten percent discount if you use the number of the current Simply Crochet magazine as a discount code. I think SC131 is the current code.

Another vote for Wool Warehouse. Also Black Sheep Wools.
