short colour change self striping DK?

I would like to make this blanket mitred squares blanket and am searching for a wool blend DK self-striping yarn. I've found Riot DK by King Cole which has lovely colours but it has a very long gradient and I end up with only one colour per square. I can't afford the yarn they used in the pattern so I'm looking for another DK yarn that has lovely colours and short colour changes. Any ideas?

James C Brett Shhh might work.

Also West Yorkshire Spinners Colourlab DK has some striped colourways.

Hayfield Spirit DK might work.

Knitcol by Adriafil. It knits up almost like fair isle (well not really), I get it from woolstack.co.uk

It's so pretty.

I really like the WYS ColourLab DK by Zandra Rhodes but I think that is too short colour changes. I am tempted to buy some for a future project though. I don't think the knitcol will work for the blanket I'm making but it's also a really cool yarn that I would love to make something out of.
I might buy a ball of the Hayfield Spirit and the James Brett and see how they knit up. They're very pretty.

www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mitered-crosses-blanket-for-mercy-corps/people
this is the original blanket pattern.on Raverly which was a cross instead of square but you can see all the different wools posters have used
