Hi everyone, has anyone here ever done any of the Pippa's Patterns (beautiful realistic flowers) designs? I've just bought 2 of them and I'm really struggling to get started, I've done a fair bit of crohet but something about this is flumoxing me! If no one's done those particular patterns before I can try and describe the problem I'm having on the 1st round at least perhaps...

Basically, it talks about rounds, but starts with a chain not a circle, so I'm assuming that I crochet down 1 side of the chain to complete round 1 then set off up the other side for the 1st half of round 2 etc.

So here's my 1st difficulty. The 1st instruction is to chain 14, skip 1, sc 11, then 3 sc in final stitch. Now when O try this I dont arrive at the final stitch to put in my 3 scs. Surely on a chain of 14, if I skip 1 (chain link number 14 if you will) then sc 11, it will leave me with 2 stitches? Does it assume that because you'd always automatically sc into the 2nd chain from the hook, that therefore they are kind of not counting that one at all and the one you skip is the second from the hook (chain link number 13) therefore going in 3rd from hook?

I hope that made any sense to someone!

I would read that as starting in the 3rd chain from hook. 2+11+1=14

Have you read ahead to the next part of the instructions? It could be that you skip the stitch in between the 11scs and the last stitch for a reason and do something a bit further on in the gap. Other than that I'd probably just follow the instructions as written and see if it doesn't make too much of a visual impact on the finished piece.

Thank you both, I've had a read ahead and can't spot anything obvious so going with sc into 3rd chain from hook which seems to work. I'll see what I can't work out next!
