Hello

was merrily sewing away last night, machine behaving perfectly and today it has turned into a thread chewing monster.

I did switch needles to a denim needle but have switched back to the old one with no improvements, have also tried re-threading the bobbin but still the same, here's what happens:

When I start sewing it looks at though all is well, it will do a couple of cms of normal stitches then the bottom and top threads just lose their connection and I get one proper stitch every 5cms or so. fabric (denim) not bunching or catching and needle going up and down OK I just can't see what's going wrong. have fannied about with the tension too but that doesn't seem to do much.

Any advice will avert an injured sewing machine!

many thanks

Hi, there has been a thread on SM's not behaving recently, have a bit of a search.

In the meantime, if you have checked the tension & it's fine it may be that you need to clean out underneath the bobbin case. You may have lint clogging it up preventing it from working properly.

I took my machine for a bit of a spring clean and it did the trick. Also, another tip is to make sure your thread is taught when threading it. A baggy thread can cause problems.

I'm no expert on servicing but a few simple checks may sort the machine out for you.

You can hoover out the bobbin bit - that helps sometimes?

maybe you need a sharp new needle and to alter the tension?
