Hope I'm posting on the correct thread!

Ds is making a circular seat for his project, and has had a few disasters, including the 'balloon' mould he used bursting, before the shell had set.

In short, does anyone know where we can get something (anything!) that could be used as a ball shaped mould - it needs to be 60 - 70", not cms. unfortunately!

Thanks.

I know you can get polystyrene shapes but 70" is MASSIVE!
The only large balls I can think of are things like the big gym balls ???

ZippiBabes · 02/02/2008 13:14

thats huge..does it have to be that big

couldn't he change the size and use this as part of the experiement and review stage so he writes up the disaster and shows how he has developed his idea

so his huge round seat becomes three connected gym ball size ones

clutteredup · 02/02/2008 13:16

a bouncy hopper?

ajandjjmum · 02/02/2008 14:19

Thanks everyone for responding!

I know it's massive - but it's for him to sit inside iykwim!

Gym balls don't come big enough - I suspect they'd be a h & s nightmare if they did!

That's a thought Zippi - he's currently working on the next balloon, hoping (and praying) that this one doesn't pop. If it does, the disaster will certainly amuse everyone, but would probably screw up his grade bigtime.

Oh well!!

can he not make chicken wire mould instead?

ZippiBabes · 02/02/2008 14:25

to sit inside

what about a cheap dome tent

of course he will end up with a hard shell tent then lol

dizzyday07 · 02/02/2008 14:50

Do you mean he's trying to make something like this?

What is he trying to make it from?

ajandjjmum · 04/02/2008 21:25

If the latest mould pops dizzy, we might be popping along to Ikea - thanks! He's put plaster sheets over the balloon now, and it's hardened, so he now has to start covering it with fibreglass sections.
