I want to make dd a Robin (stranger things) outfit for Christmas. Is poplin an ok fabric to use for the t shirt?

I'm not sure what fabric to get for the shorts. I am ok at making stuff but i cant read patterns etc so I'll do by eye but have never made shorts so not sure what to use. I'll use the same fabric for the waistcoat.

Thank you

I want the reviews taken down so I will be filming the cctv on my phone tonight to prove she's lied about me in the reviews. But not sure if Google will take them down for me as head office won't be reporting it from the business account.

I'd usually use jersey for a t shirt. Doesn't the pattern have fabric suggestions?

i had to Google as I have no idea about stranger things, but I assume you mean the sailor-ish outfit?

The T-shirt looks like jersey (I know you said you’re not keen on patterns, but the Galaxy tee is a very similar shape to the main top, though doesn’t include the collar and it’s a nicely written pattern, very easy instructions to follow).

For the shorts and waistcoat I’d use something like a cotton or poly cotton twill, and then sew on grosgrain ribbon for the stripes.
The shorts look like a culotte style, This tutorial could give you some guideline on the pattern shape and size.

@JanBabiesBrummyMummy I don't have a pattern, I can't find the fabric in jersey at the moment but I'll keep looking as I've realised it needs to be stretchy!

@SBAM that t shirt pattern looks ideal. The problem is I don't ever understand the words or the marks etc when I've tried to use patterns before Blush

I'd go to a charity shop and get a pair of navy shorts in a slightly larger size than DD, a breton top, a white cotton poplin blouse or shirt, a navy shirt or blouse, and a red piece of fabric.
I'd get a red felt tip pen .

Then I'd cut the sleeves of the t-shirt to make it short sleeves,if necessary.
The shirt I'd make the sailor collar from, then draw on the stripes with the felt pen. Make a little red bow to go below the collar.

Then from the left over shirt, I'd make bias binding and tack it onto the shorts to make stripe, and make a hat out of white card.

From the navy shirt, I'd make the waistcoat.
