How big a blanket could you knit - intarsia

I would love to knit a blanket with chunky wool using this method. Am I bonkers? Previously done simple stuff like hats...

I don't know about knitting but I crocheted a blanket that is 9 ft by 7 ft in superchunky yarn. Great fun and totally transforms the guest room.
