Stitch & Story - closed?

Hi
do any of you ever use Stitch & Story site? I have bought both kits and yarn from there and wanted to get some particular chunky yarn to make a Christmas present - but the website has been closed to orders for the last few days - says closed for maintenance.

Have any of you heard anything? it's not closing down is it? I rather like it as a site.

Alternatively - any recommendations for a dupe yarn: www.stitchandstory.com/collections/chunky-super-chunky/products/the-chunky-wool-100g-balls?variant=40304037986454

The ones at Wool & the Gang & We Are Kintters are £17.50 a 200g skein which is too expensive.

I need it to be natural and not synthetic yarn

thank you

If you still need to buy yarn have you looked at one of the big box sites e.g love crafts or wool warehouse.

I had a quick look on love crafts.

Rowan Big Wool can be a little scratchy in my experience.

I've not felt the millamia super chunky but I really rate their DK weight and have used it a lot for kids garments. If i had to make a choice I would choose this and it is 1/3rd of at the moment so works out at £13.32 for 200g.

If your budget is really tight you could try the lana grossa but again. I've no experience of it.

thank you - I ended up at Wool Warehouse in the end and got this:

www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/drops-snow-off-white-01-50g

it's not as chunky nor as soft as I wanted but have doubled up and it is doing the job - it is a shame that S&S has gone - but looking at social media it seems there are lot of people who paid for orders that haven't arrived.

I'm sure that I will find what I want with trial and error.
