oooh yes, lk - can't wait to hear all about it!

lucykate · 02/02/2008 23:07

tis done, haven't typed much as ds is very disturbed tonight and keeps crying, blocked nose i think.

i didn't blog this but here are some of julie's top tips -

she uses normal newspaper for the main bit of papier mache, with a top layer from old books, if possible, use books earlier than 1950, they are printed on thinner paper and give a better finish, less likely to crease

she also dips a lot of the fabrics she uses in tea, hot tea (without sugar or milk obviously ), in fact, she uses tea bags a lot to age everything, and has even been know to dip a whole, clothed, papier mache figure in tea to tone down the colours

I've had a look on your blog at the pics LK. Can't wait to see your finished pieces.

Not sure if anyone noticed but I put on 3 lots of link sections.
Our blogs, etsy shops and then a section for all of us add links to other places we like.

Is that ok?

Gingermonkey · 03/02/2008 09:15

Nbg · 03/02/2008 09:32

How about adding a crafter blogger counter thing IYKWIM or a site visitor count...I alway think the are quite fun and can add traffic through the blog...IF that is what we all want!

It's looking fabby!!!

Fubsy · 03/02/2008 11:53

Umm - I know I havent contributed anything yet, but how do I get on the list of contributers?

Ive got a profile, and I can log in, what else do I need to do?

LK, wild papier mache! The first ones remind me of those scary Eastern European puppet stories the BBC used to show when I was little [quivering emoticon]

Dingle · 03/02/2008 12:00

I think you need to respond to the emailed invite.... I think!

Fubsy · 03/02/2008 12:03

I did - but Im so useless at these things, I might have just cocked up along the way!

I buy most of mine from ebay, pruners. The US sellers usually sell yards for the same price as UK sellers sell a FQ (so a quarter of a yard).

lucykate · 03/02/2008 12:10

dingle, i've just added a sitemeter, it is at the bottom of the posting section, i put it there so it was discrete, but it is open to all to see, if you click on the sitemeter logo, it will take you to the main page, i've got one of these on my blog and it's fascinating, if you go to the referrals section you can see where any visitors are coming from

lucykate · 03/02/2008 12:26

pruners , i saw the book in boarders a couple of weeks ago and went all goose pimpley

fubsy, you need to sign in with the mnet blog sign in user name and password to make any changes to the blog, posting is fine, we don't need to sign in to do that. i've just tried to add you to the list but couldn't do it, blogger was playing up, but will try again later if you'd like

do you have a blog to link to or shall i just put your name on the list?

Fubsy · 03/02/2008 20:09

Thanks LK, no blog to add, I tried to set one up a while ago, and it went a bit pear shaped.

Happy to share one, maybe Ill get the hang of it that way!

meridian · 04/02/2008 11:21

JG will whip something up, she pretends to be rubbish

Whizzz · 04/02/2008 14:56

In the wake of 'my'(?) A&C selling Hoo Haa - can we have a corner of the blog to post surplus things to swap/sell ??

Typically all this came just as I was trying to reduce all my cardmakign stash & I still have loads that I need to get rid off.

I'd also add my blog link to, but I'm not sure how to do it (techno-dunce)
its here and I know it's very poor compared to some!

Nbg · 04/02/2008 15:05

Ooooh something blue..........
