enjoy yourselves!

florenceuk · 28/01/2008 19:41

Filly I think you win the needles contest . I think though you will have enough to occupy yourself shortly!

NotQuiteCockney · 28/01/2008 19:46

Which part of London are these?

I can't make it, this week is mad, but I would like to go sometime, our local knitting group is ... not right for me.

Arse, I'm going to end up setting up my own local knitting group, aren't I ...

florenceuk · 28/01/2008 19:51

the iknit shop is near Vauxhall, and they meet there every thursday. The S&B moves from place to place - this week it is near St James Park but it is often in central/south london. Iknit Wed meet up might be closer to you this week:

Wednesday 30th January, from 6pm

The White Swan, Upper Street, N1

  • this is a great pub, just seconds away from Highbury and Islington tube, just turn right and right again

I have to admit I have only been to S&B once! so I am not an expert on group dynamics.

Miaou · 28/01/2008 19:56

Filly, I'll see your

and raise you another

(have fun!)

rantinghousewife · 28/01/2008 20:01

Ahh, dh at a sucky up to management works do that night.
We have no knitting group in our town, think I may have to start one.
Enjoy yourselves

FillyjonkisCALM · 28/01/2008 20:57

I shall sit on MN with my 3 sets of interchangable needles and raise a glass of horlicks to you all

jeangenie · 29/01/2008 12:55

Ok - I have been given dispensation to go out on Thursday night - so that's what i vote for

Thursday 31st January, from 5pm

I Knit London, 13 Bonnington Square, SW8 1TE

  • join us at London's only shop AND sanctuary for knitters - to get
knitting, get some gossip and get away from it all!

INFO, MAP AND DIRECTIONS ( www.iknit.org.uk/shop.html )

what time shall we say - I won't be able to get there for 5 - maybe more like 6.30 or 7 ish? website say they are open til 9pm (and have a bar!)

( I will give them a call later to superconfirm this given the ruours of closure - but it is from an email newsletter i got this week)

florenceuk · 29/01/2008 13:33

Shall we say 6.30pm? see you there.

marina · 29/01/2008 13:45

NQC, LOL at your local knitting group there is a world of pain in your understatement
Ours are all adorable but mainly knit courtelle gonks and are about 80
I can't come and squint at florence's interchangeables either
Have fun ladies

EffiePerine · 29/01/2008 13:48

wot are interchangeables?

I learnt how to do the lopp thingy though

florenceuk · 29/01/2008 14:10

effie! do catch up! see here: interchangeable needle thread Kudos for the magic loop thing though! I am magic looping my sleeve and it is working OK.

EffiePerine · 29/01/2008 14:34

ah looks fiddly. I would lose most of the needles and the packet (which would mysteriously turn up in DS's toybox months later)

loop thingy works well tho confused me massively when first started . I have some lvoely german steel needles (can't remember the name but they are fab) and I like the clicking...

jeangenie · 29/01/2008 14:49

but florence - how will I know you ? do I have to zone in on each person and whisper something cryptic about mumsnet or will you have a red rose clenched between your teeth?

OP posts:
florenceuk · 29/01/2008 15:11

i'll be the chinese woman in purple-rimmed glasses waving several different packets of needles around - do you think that will be enough to identify me?

I must say that DD loves playing with the Denise set because it is pink and diddly with all the bits slotting in just so - I haven't let her get hold of the other set though - too pointy and liable to get lost.

jeangenie · 29/01/2008 17:13

wave them high, wave them proud - I should be able to track you down

NotQuiteCockney · 29/01/2008 21:47

I made a hat in 12 hours on Saturday.

Came out well, too.

Yes, our local one has people running it who are very very knowledgeable, but it's all synthetic, and really lovely, but just ... ahem ... not people I'm that interested in getting to know.
