calling all dress makers - where can i get MODERN patterns please?

i really want to start making my own clothes but i'm not good enough to work without a pattern, but all the skirt/dress patterns i can find look like something from 1962 with angular scratchy pictures of stick thin woemen striking bizarre poses.

possibly the actul designs are fine, but i can't get passed the awful art work to picture something i would actuaaly wear, is there anywhere i can buy modern looking patterns, possibly with a photo of the finished item on it not an artists impression?

any help gratefully appreciated!

these are my personal favourites, although they are in the US and the pattern selection small. They are very good quality patterns, printed on non flimsy paper and the instructions are really simple.

Sorry if this has been asked before.

Why do Vogue, Simplicity, Butterick & co not make their patterns available for sale on line? (Or do they?)

I've searched and found a few here and there but not the whole selection. It seems such an ideal thing to sell via the web: light, easy to pack, easy to post etc??

Anyone have any info pls???

Countingthegreyhairs · 03/02/2008 14:42

oops, sorry, I meant to start a new thread and have just hi-jacked this one by mistake ...

I'd still be grateful for any info though!
