Knitting for children

My 5 year old grandson wants to learn to knit. We've been fine with the needle side but is having difficulty feeding the yarn. I've tried the way I do it but it he finds it awkward and his hands aren't big enough. Does anyone know of an easy way to feed yarn that doesn't need to be wrapped around the hand or any gadgets that would help.

Put the yarn in a toilet roll holder or any device that has one hole out

He could try continental style knitting if you use English style? Or vice versa!

I have the yarn lightly looped around my left index finger and it works for me, I can’t manage the tension very well if I’m using English style. Or there’s a tool called a Norwegian knitting thimble you can get for a couple of pounds but it might be a bit big for a 5 yr olds fingers!
