Mixing wool brands

I'm fairly new to crochet but am hooked on making blankets. I've made two big C2C blankets but now I'm doing a Mile a Minute one. This consists of long strips which are crocheted together like this

I ended up with different brands of wool in order to get the colours I wanted. One is Stylecraft Bellisimo and the other is Stylecraft bambino. Not for a baby, I just liked the colours.
My strips are different lengths 😭
100 rows measures 20cm different. I don't think it's tension,it's all done very loose. According to the makers each ball is 100g and 268m so shouldn't they be the same?
Am I going to have to buy more wool?

Yarn is weird. Are they the same yarn weight. Eg DK/aran? Are they the same type. Eg cotton, acrylic etc?

It sounds as though the yarn is not all the same thickness. As the PP says the yarn will be described by its weight - eg Aran, double knit, sport etc. You want to only mix yarns of the same weight and fibre type (eg cotton, wool).

Both acrylic DK. They don't feel the same though, one is definately chunkier though I don't see how it's possible if 100g = 268m in both cases!
I'll have to change plans and use all the same. It's a load of wool wasted though!
Glad I didn't waste more time and effort before realising.
I guess it's a rookie error.

For some reason 'baby' yarn always seems thinner than non baby yarn. Doesn't explain why they are listed as the same length etc though.

You could try changing the size of your hook to see if you can get the tension to the same as the other do yarn?

Yarn is weird. I’ve had 2 balls, same brand, same batch number, crochet/knit up differently!

That makes me feel less stupid!
In a C2C that wouldn't matter so much. This pattern it's fairly cruical. I had different shades of greens. I can't find another shade in either of the brands so I think plan B will have to be pink and green.
