for us poor sods who can't join in with the midlands laydees...

RantingHousewife and me are up for it. Anyone else? I am in London, RH is 40 mins from here. Are you nearby? Wanna come and play too? We'll drink tea or coffee and try to persaude MeridianAriel to send us some baked goodies, or put in a guest appearance, or something. If you can bake please do not keep that fact a secret. (I cannot)We may even talk about or do some crafts...

I can get to Reading, easily enough. I might be a bit later than a couple of you but, I can get there with no problems.
Am I the only one who's intrigued by MPs needlepoint sunflower, I'd really like to see that.

Dingle · 23/01/2008 10:38

I think I am a bit cut off from anyone here!! But I will have to sit and eat cake at home on my own in honour of you all!!LOL.

rantinghousewife · 23/01/2008 10:41

Where are you Dingle?

rantinghousewife · 23/01/2008 10:42

Ah I see, well we could move it around, don't have to do just the one meet, do we?

JackBlackRoady · 24/01/2008 10:20

hello! I am in Basingstoke, very near Reading, but I would love to come if it was in London too! Also I am moving house in two weeks time and would be happy to have anyone over - I will be about 15 minutes off J7 of the M3. I am very good at drinking tea and eating cakes, and I try hard with the old crafty things, all the while knowing my talent lies with the getting fat instead...

Tillyboo · 24/01/2008 11:23

JackBlackRoady - Hi ! I am currently residing in Basingstoke but will be moving back home to Spencers Wood in 2 weeks when all the building work is complete on our house.

Whereabouts will you be moving too ? Is it Oakley side of the M3 ?
It's great to find someone pretty local to me

Jeangenie - I'm not aware of any crafty type venues for a meet up but I am quite happy to host also in a few weeks.
I'll continue to search for a possible venue though too.

So far we have :

Tillyboo - Reading (Berkshire)
JackBlackRoady - Basingstoke (Hampshire)
Dingle - Chatham (Kent)
Dior - Colchester (North Essex)
Seeker - Faversham (Kent)
Rantinghousewife - London
LucyKate - South Midlands
Jeangenie - London

Have I missed anyone out ? Anymore takers ?

JackBlackRoady · 24/01/2008 18:56

Hi Tillyboo! I am moving to Overton, so pretty near Oakley, yes!

Tillyboo · 24/01/2008 20:54

Hi JackBlackRoady - The internet connection in our rented apartment is soooo rubbish so it's hit & miss when I can get onto the internet.

Because we are so local, if you fancy meeting up for cake before we all arrange a suitable meet up point, drop me a line at
laurie at mysassy dot fsnet dot co dot uk

JackBlackRoady · 25/01/2008 09:27

Thank you Tillyboo - ace idea! Will email you now.

I've been asking around and there is a craft centre in Basingstoke, with a cafe I think. I am going to go visit it and I will let you know what it is like! It has a few little shops I think, but I will know more when I have been.

Mind you, it is probably more likely there are better places in somewhere bigger like Reading or London, but anyway I want to go have a nosey!

JBR xxx

Tillyboo · 25/01/2008 23:44

JBR - Just emailed you back.
A craft centre in B'stoke, Hmm ... I'm intrigued.

Quick search came up with Viables Craft Centre

Might have to drag dh and dd along this weekend for a nosey

rantinghousewife · 27/01/2008 20:42

So have we decided then, I can do weekends too but, one weekend in 6 dh works (and is on call) but the others I can probably do, when he is not watching football.
Am not fantastic at organising but, will get my arris into gear if no one else can.

jeangenie · 28/01/2008 11:02

I'm on for it - I can do weekends usually or Thursday but will bring need to bring dd2 and be back for school pickup (unless can arrange a playdate for DD1 that day)

am not stepping up to mark re organising as have no idea where anyplace is

should we just am to head to tillyboo's once she is back at home? or meet in London and go to Loop or VV Rouleaux [swoon]?

should we take a vote? (ever the voice of democracy [read totally indecisive]))

JackBlackRoady · 28/01/2008 13:42

Ok, I vote we go to Tillyboo's once she is back at home! (It's really close for me )
Then maybe we do the second meeting in London?

rantinghousewife · 28/01/2008 19:55

Yes that sounds good, now we have to find a time we are all free. Any suggestions?
Really liking the idea of Loop or VV rouleaux too.

jeangenie · 29/01/2008 22:09

thursdays are good for me if y'all can bear me bringing smallfry#2 - if I know enough in advance I should be able to arrange playdate for DD1 so don't have to leave too early

how long will it take me to drive from [shudder] SE London???

OP posts:
rantinghousewife · 30/01/2008 19:44

Thursdays are good for me too, small fry good too.

Tillyboo · 30/01/2008 20:49

Hi All, Sorry, been out and about today, aprt of which was spent eating cake with Gerry (JackBlackRoady) ! Thanks Gerry, Tilly & I had a really lovely time, the ducks were hilarious ....

I'd be very happy to host when we are back home. We are moving back in at the weekend and expect to have our suite back from being re-upholstered next week at some point. Otherwise we'll all have to sit cross legged on the floor

Can I get back to you all next week and then we can agree a mutual date. I realise that although we are all South, we are still quite spread out so it may not be a possibility to fit in with distance, children, school, work etc....

rantinghousewife · 30/01/2008 20:53

That's fine, I have a big one who doesn't need me to be home and the little one who I can usually palm off on someone else, if needs be. Although dh usually gets home early enough to collect from school.

JackBlackRoady · 31/01/2008 07:40

Tillyboo if your sofa isn't back we could all bring beanbags and look like a hippy commune in your living room! And I hope your DD didn't have nightmares about the killer ducks...

Tillyboo · 31/01/2008 13:05

Hi JBR - I've just got back from the house, the industrial cleaners are in. Unfortunately they cannot speak English so I have no idea what they have been told by the insurance company who sent them in.

I think I recognised a carpet shampooer so at least the carpet might be clean ...

Tilly didn't have any nightmares, far from it, i've got to source some ducks near home. As if the 50 she has in the bath isn't enough ?
