Pottery wheel tips for a 9 year old

We just bought our 9 year old a pottery wheel for her birthday and could use some tips. She’s had a kiddie one for a few years now and loves it, but we thought the real thing would be a nice upgrade as she is getting older and wants to do some real throwing.

Any tips for how we should set her up? I’ve got what looks to be a decent air-drying clay that’s suitable to use on a wheel, some acrylic paints for decorating, some tools, etc. She had a great time experimenting with it this morning and managed to eek out a wonky pot, but longer-term she’ll need a better set-up
because it is MESSY. Is the garage okay? Or should we set her up outside with an awning?

I’m assuming we need to completely clean the plate and surrounding bowl every time? Any resources she can watch perhaps on YouTube that would help her to get going would be gratefully received.
