Sewing projects that can be completed in 2-3 hours

I'm looking for ideas for small sewing projects some friends and I can make in an afternoon, probably 2-3 hours. We thought we might get together month or so to do something. 'crafty'.
Consensus was that people wanted to sew, making practical items (I lost the argument to try a variety of crafts, I'll revisit that in a few months!)
We're supposed to be each coming up with some ideas of things we could make, but I'm not coming up with anything so thought I'd ask for ideas on here.

We're none of us expert sewers but have all made things like cushion covers and curtains.
We will have sewing machines.
The resulting product if possible should be something we can use.

Any thoughts please?

Agree with the bunting and fabric gift bag ideas. I have just ordered a Christmas fat quarter bundle from eBay to make re-usable gift bags.

You could also look at Project Linus quilts for sick children and teenagers as group projects.

Probably more satisfying to do projects you can start and finish in one go initially, but you could also look at quilting in general for projects to complete over several sessions, either jointly or separately, if you all enjoy it and keep it up.

Snake draft excluder like we had in the 1970s - could be very useful this winter.

Table cloth and napkins in matching fabric - I've seen placemats done with a pocket for the knife and fork.

Pet beds.

Blinds.

Rag rug - maybe not.

Oooh yes, I'm actually going to make myself one of these for the winter, as we've had our flooring changed and have a bit of a gappy door from conservatory.

(Disclaimer: I missed the snake bit. It won't be a snake.😂)

Reading pillows with a pocket for a book are quite nice pressies too.
