Chinese pattern brocade

Hi all,

During a recent tidy up I found a couple of metres of beautiful Chinese brocade - I remember buying it on a whim from Bristol indoor market as a student! It's a classic dragons pattern and is the fairly structured stiff stuff.

I have no idea what to make with it! I think I was originally thinking a fitted top, but that was when I was young, much thinner and more optimistic it would suit me.... I'm a pear shape and the grading from fitted waist to bum would probably look a bit daft.

I was thinking maybe a jacket of some sort... but I don't know what style would work. I also don't have an overlocker and not sure how to finish the seams....

It just seems a shame not to use it, it's so pretty!

@EnterFunnyNameHere get a pattern with a kimono style.
dont cut the embroidery, just take in the edges.
add different silk for sleeves, edges and collars if needed.

or you could make a wall divider / window dressing with it. Just attach it to a frame.

id think cutting it would be sacrilege

Kimono type jacket woudl be great. If you have a sewing machine you can zigzag or bias-bind the seams.
thefoldline.com/product/yanaka-jacket/ This would be perfect.
I've used the brocade, it is not too hard to sew as long as you keep on top of the fraying,
