Janome sewing machine - new or 2nd hand?

I’m new to sewing and looking to buy a machine. I’ve seen people recommend buying a 2nd hand refurbished machine but there’s not much choice in my area.

The one available is a Janome my style 22 for £125 with 1 year warranty. Or I have been looking at a Janome j3-24 new at £270 with 3 years warranty.

Any thoughts?

The ms 2522 isn’t that old and gets good reviews. Can you try them out side by side?
I feel sewing machine’s are increasing in features but decreasing in build quality, so the used one will be a bargain. From what I can see it’s a heavier, better quality machine. The drop in bobbin is nice too, most of the better Janome have them,

My best machine is 1984 vintage. The new computerised one I bought to “upgrade” is being repaired, again!

In fact ( sorry to go on) the hd2200 has a strong look of being a restyled my style 22, if that gives you an idea of the quality.

I love my Janome HD3000 sewing machine. Obviously there are some other best Janome sewing machines out there. But, I will recommend you to have either Janome HD1000, Janome HD3000 or Janome 3160QDC.
