What material to use?

I need your advice! What material should I use to make a long flowing skirt?
viscose? Is that easy to sew?
or another material? I’m a relative beginner and this will be my biggest project after making a few bags and such like.

It depends on what your pattern recommends really. Viscose will give a nice drape to a skirt but can be rather slippery to sew with for a beginner. Take your time with the cutting out and pin well before sewing. What pattern have you chosen?

Viscose challis will be fine and I don’t think it’s difficult to sew. It has a nice drape and flow.

Cotton lawn will also drape nicely and is cool in summer. Also easy to sew with.

"These long DIY skirts allow for a lot of versatility when it comes to fabric. For a flowing and elegant look, choose chiffon or taffeta with a lining underneath because these fabrics are usually sheer. A more comfortable and casual DIY maxi skirt can be made out of cotton or jersey fabrics."

not my words, but hope it helps.
