I am making a granny square blanket, I really like the edging in these two blankets but struggling to make sense of the instructions. Can anyone decipher/direct me?

And is it similar to this one? At the moment I have just flat stitched my granny squares together

It looks like you are starting at the side and basically continuing the granny stitch all around? 3double crochets followed by chain 2, then another 3 double crochets make the corner turn. You then do a three double crochet in each space all around to do the granny effect edging. I hope that helps.

I think (the pictures are really blurry thanks to the new site) that the border is basically a round of granny stitches exactly like the squares would have been made.

Then another round of picot. So chain 3. SC into the 3rd chain from the hook (the first chain you made) , skip the next stitch on the border and SC into the next one. Then chain 3 etc.

Oh ok, apologies I should have said the squares I made were willow squares, so they just have borders of 2 rounds of double crochet.

Can I still do this granny stitch above for a border or will it look odd as there are no repeating spaces in the current border?

You could still do the rounds of granny stitch, but personally I wouldn't on a willow square.

I'd go for something like the border on this jonnamartinez.com/2018/01/29/call-the-midwife-inspired-blanket/

Thanks, I wanted something straight edged to match the granny squares but still pretty,, can you recommend any other borders that won’t take ages to do? Here is the blanket with the squares stitched together

I would do a round of burgundy dc (US sc) to tidy it up and then maybe just a couple of rounds of linen/moss stitch. It only needs a simple border as it's so beautiful.

Thank you, I will go with your recommendation, i think a simple border is best too 👌
