Ideas for class leavers gifts

For the first time, my DH is teaching in year 2. As it's always a special time when they leave, the staff tend to give them lots of keepsakes, gifts and pictures. He has to pay for this out of his own pocket and, looking on Etsy, even the simplest of gifts would cost a lot for a class of 31.

So....I crochet. Has anyone got any ideas of a small, quick gift I can crochet 31 times?? Just to add to a collection of gifts really, I already have loads of balls of wool so it would cost nothing.

Also does anyone know where you can buy those little silver shapes that hang on a little thread....sorry can't think of the correct name. I'm thinking I could print bookmarks with a leavers poem on, laminate, then punch a hole and attach a little silver star via the string.

Any ideas are much appreciated.

Thanks everyone x

Does the class have a themed name? At my daughters primary they are all bird names. If that's the case you could crochet a little toy that's of their class name?

Worry worms? I see these a lot and might be useful to the kids? Lovely idea to make them something

How about the crochet worry worms? They would be quick to do and people seem to like them?

Thanks for replying.

Unfortunately they are just known as class 2 so no theme.

Yes, worry worms were my first thought and I think I will definitely do those. Any other ideas?

Worry whales, squish balls, mini amigurumi for keyrings - one dog woof has lots of free patterns, as does stitch by fay, or hookedbyrobin on YouTube, 3D amigurumi hearts or chubby pencils (loads online)

Hobbycraft had an amigurumi advent with lots of small patterns- doughnuts, robots etc

Wanderingddeer on Instagram has lots of really teeny patterns that are quick

I worked in a class where the teacher's mum had knitted every child a little mouse. Each one was different.

You could crochet a little and then make each one a label with the child's name on.

A little mini figure of them on their uniform? It wouldn't make too much to personalise- hair colour, length, glasses, eye colour etc.

I think worry worms and personalised mice are lovely ideas and could be kept forever. Your husband is lucky to have such a thoughtful partner.

I definitely wouldn't do this. It would be a minefield.

I did similar but with little pained wooden figures. My class loved them and their parents couldn't have been nicer about them.
I suppose if you have someone who is particularly conscious of their appearance, then it may be a problem but I thought that it was quite cute for Y2.
