If I do changes to a bought item I've been told I need to retest it's safety, I.e. a toy but what if the toy already has safety an the product added has been safety tested. Can anyone advise please

It still needs tested as it’s about how safe the product is with the added item. Trading standards will advise

It has to be retested as you may have compromised the original design and safety of the toy. Otherwise you sell it with a clear 'not a toy/no play value' label and it won't need testing. Then it's up to the buyer what they do with it.
