What do you do with the ends on a temperature scarf?

I'm about to start a temperature scarf yes I'm two months later than planned. Does anyone have any wise words about how to handle all the ends from the colour changes please?

I made a temperature blanket last year in stocking stitch. I only charged yarns at the start of a row and floated the ends behind the first 10 or so purl stitches as I went. I used two yarns together and two rows per day so that's a lot of ends!

Just googled it, I love the idea. How many colours are you using?

I'm aiming to change colour every five degrees, so I think I'll need 8 colours. I haven't chosen the 8th one yet but I figure I've got some months before I'll need that one!
