Hello - I'm not new, but I'm a lurker...thought I'd add my tuppence worth! I recommend cross-stitch. I started it a few years ago when attempting to stop smoking. It's easy, which was the main reason I started it! You can create the most gorgeous pictures with no artistic talent LOL! And what surprised me, and got me hooked, was that it's soooo relaxing, and the time just flies past when you're doing it. There are millions of different types of patterns; I can email you some if you like lucy*kate (you can google it, I don't know how to put links)

Crochet is easy peasy, but I wouldn't bother with that happyhooker book, patterns are nice but I wouldn't want to learn from it, the instructions are crap!

D'oh. That would be LizzieKate, not LucyKate (Lucy is my DD's name...) - sorry! I'll try a link: Lizziekate's webpage
