Alternatives to Etsy

I've just closed my Etsy store - too many listings selling what they claim to be "sterling silver" jewellery that isn't. My genuine hallmark quality silver jewellery is lost in this wave of AliExpress resellers.

I need an alternative though if only for the exposure to drive traffic to my own website.

Anyone any experience with Folksy? It's finding the right market. Most of the facebook groups seem to be heavy on cheaper crafts and I'm not getting the right audience there

No matter where you sell you will be lost in a sea of other jewellery sellers without ££££s to invest in advertising. Have you tried selling in a store instead? There are lots of "rent-a-shelf" places around rather than wholesaling.

Most of my sales come from my own website but I'm always up to broaden my reach. There isn't really a suitable store around here sadly.

The one selling crafts is mostly pastel knitted baby clothes for non knitters to pass off as their own work!

I’m usually disappointed when I order from Etsy. It’s never quite what I thought I’d ordered. It’s a shame.

It isn't craft stores you need to look at, it's gift shops, and they don't need to be local. There's one in Dewsbury who have sellers from all over. You send your stuff to them and they display it and send you the money when it sells. When things need restocking they let you know.

I’ve tried folksy a few times. I persevered for quite a while but hardly any sales. They just don’t get traffic like Etsy does, it’s not promoted so much and a lot of people haven’t heard of it. A friend of mine uses it but she only sells a few items for rock bottom prices and only makes about £1 profit on her items. I’ve tried a few other smaller sites too with no success.
