Adding sleeves by steeking

I’m after some help please. I’ve attached the assembly instructions for a jumper I’m knitting - I know it says there’s a video tutorial but that website no longer exists.

I have watched lots of videos on steeking and they always have a special steek stitch that they cut - this pattern doesn’t have that. It’s just stocking stitch all the way round. So do I just two lines of machine stitch and just cut between them?! It seems like madness.

Thanks in advance

And this is a photo of how attached sleeve should look

I actually may have found the answer in an Elizabeth Zimmerman book. Although she has told me to baste the stitches without explaining what that means, so I’m now off to YouTube again Grin

Hope you found some useful videos.
I would machine stitch not too tightly (or a double row) about 2cm apart and cut between them.

Thank you @NotMeNoNo I think this going to be a real heart in the mouth moment!

I will contact the designer on Instagram too and see if she can add something to her page. It seems bad form to just put it on a website that you don’t plan to keep forever - I’m sure she could have devoted one page in the book to the technique!

Have you a swatch to practice on maybe?

Oh that’s a very good idea @NotMeNoNo thank you!
