Jewelspun yarn

Has anyone else had problems with Sirdar Jewelspun? The colours are gorgeous but I'm losing the will to live working with it because it keeps twisting and coiling up, so I have to untwist it every few stitches. I've never had that problem with any other type of yarn, and I assume it must be something to with the way it's spun or wound.

I don't know this specific yarn but I've definitely had the problem you describe with another one - I think it might have been Stylecraft Cabaret but I'm not sure. I had to sort of hold it up and let the ball spin to uncurl it.

For some yarns you can fix this by pulling from the inside instead of the outside or vice versa.

I've made about a dozen items in various colours of Jewelspun (I'm making one right now) & I've only found this problem when I'm turning the work a lot, so I think it's not the yarn's fault.

I crochet rather than knit. If I make a variation on Granny squares, going round & round, I don't get the twisting problem; if I make a scarf & turn at the end of each row I do get it. The solution for me is to alternate the direction in which I turn the work at the end of the row, being careful to get the yarn in the right position to start again. That seems to work.
