Help which side shall I use

I’m knitting a hat, the first pic is supposed to be the front but I’m starting to prefer the second pic. I need to choose in around 1 inch time. Help me mn which is the front?

Is it that the 2nd one is more ribbed, first one flatter?

Thank you, I think 2 may win it, but as @Brusca says 1 has a nice texture so I may do another with a less elaborate wool so it shows up more

Are you sure the first one is the right side? The second pic is a pattern I've seen before (broken rib stitch? Something like that) and I'd definitely have said that's the right side.

100% sure, I’ve adapted it from an old fisherman hat pattern and there’s the picture on it with single lines of stocking stitch and texture in between them but it gets lost a bit as the wool is so sparkly (for festive post cold water swims pre Christmas)
