similar to the where to buy fabric and patterns thread, but didn't want to hijack...

does anyone know of a really huge place to buy fabric that has everything you could think of in london? where do clothes manufacturers get their material from?

i know you can get nice silk in soho, but what if i want a jersey material?

oh this is what I need

I suppose Brick Lane is the obvious one.

there's a place called fabrics galore in battersea (I think) that is quite reasonable. It's not hugely, hugely huge, but has a lot of stuff.
Manufacturers buy from outside of london, mostly - it's cheaper. And Broadwick silks in Soho is silly money (although a lovely shop) - you are better off finding somewhere for saris in the East End, and they will have a much cheaper and still lovely selection of silks, as well as lots of other fabrics too.
I'll find fabric galore's details.......

They don't have an online shop, but list some of their products. HTH.
