Help! I've spilled tea on my knitting..

I finished knitting a baby bootie with only the weaving in ends left and I've mistakenly spilled my tea over it...it's acrylic yarn. Should I soak it in soapy water? Or would that ruin it? the stain has caught only 3 rows.. any advice appreciated.. Google suggests washing it with vinegar..has anyone tried this? Please help!!

100% acrylic? Wash in a bit of clothes washing liquid, it will be fine. Soak, rinse, pat dry in a towel.

Eek this is my fear!
I would do what I do when I spill it on carpet..blot as much up with paper towel as you can, then get the stain soaked with clean, cold water and continue blotting and soaking up with towel.

Repeat. Works brilliantly on carpet - good luck!

Do you still have the yarn band? That'll probably have the washing instructions on it. But if it's pure acrylic, handwashing with warm (not hot) soapy water should be absolutely fine.

Thanks all! I just washed it with some water and soap the stain seems to have gone it's drying now...yes the yarn band said it was machine washable. It was a gift and now I just don't feel right giving that as a gift Sad..thinking to knit another one

It will be fine, but I'd wash both booties together once you've knitted the 2nd one. Baby won't know you spilled tea on it, and they'll both have been washed. I can see why you think of it as being less special if it's had tea on it, but maybe think about you blocking it instead, same process.

@PineappleWilson that's good advice I shall definitely do that, thanks 🤗

If tea is the worst thing to get on a baby's bootie it's doing well! I wouldn't hesitate to gift it.
