ah ha, close yurtgirl, the clue is in that this is posted under a&c, dd is an elf, and a per usual, the school have only just sent letters home today asking for costumes for thursday, they could have given us a bit more notice

yes, dh said why don't i just nip to asda et al tomorrow, but luckily, dd's main uniform colour is red, so she will already have a red polo shirt on anyway, she also has a pair of green cords, so really only needs the hat. if i have time, i'll make her a waistcoat too

There was I dreaming of her being an angel or a fairy or at the very least something semi human. But no, a christmas tree it is. Still, she looks really sweet in her costume and really wants to be a tree

tillyboo, dd was a christmas tree last year, i think deep down she would love to be an angel. she was quite excited by the elf hat this morning, it just needs adjusting as its a bit tight.

i'm hoping to photograph it later, light permitting and do a tutorial on the blog as to how to make it, it was so easy once i'd figured it out.

just got back from school run and i am so cross , have just found out from our next door neighbours dd (she and my dd are in the same class) that my dd is no longer an elf, she swapped today as she said she didn't want to be an elf, and is now a carol singer.

i'm so cross with her, she knew i'd sat up last night and made her an elf hat, she tried it on this morning, i'd had a letter home from school yesterday with her name on it, telling me she was an elf and what costume she needed, we told her teacher this morning that her costume was sorted, and yet she's now admitted that she did ask to change. am going to have to speak to her teacher tomorrow, i've told dd i'm not making another costume, if she needs another one, then tough, she will have to go without.

LK - that is just the sort of thing my DD does. Blooming carol singer, now where's the fun in that?????!!!!!! I'd pick elf all day long. lol at poor TB's DD as a tree!!! My DD is an innkeeper this year, and DS is an elf (obviously the superior choice there ). DD has been told to bring in dark trousers and dark top to wear (presumably for under her smelly old school owned costume). I pointed out she had no dark trousers or dark top, and what does she expect mummy to do - go and buy some when that is wasteful? (got a bit high horsey about it!). So, I have found an old green sweatshirt that she used to wear for PE and she can wear her tracksuit bottoms from her hockey kit. She is not best pleased
