hello all
I crochet hats and scarves. All my own design. Am now thinking about trying to sell them (rather than just giving them away as gifts) but i'm not really sure about prices. they usually take me a couple of days to make (working on and off between caring for a 2yo and doing regular house stuff...and MNing...)

i've put a pic of one of the more plain ones on my profile.

Can't see a profile...

You can't factor time into hand-made things I'm afraid. If I did with my cards, no-one would buy them! What would you pay for a hand-made scarf etc? You have to remember that Tesco sell scarf and glove sets for a few pounds, but also try to recover your costs...The joys of hand-making stuff to sell!

ok pic up now.

NaeDanger · 03/12/2007 11:26

Can't see scarf etc, but love the crochet flower!

Didn't know you were PMDW!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 03/12/2007 11:39

i only have a pic of the one hat so far. I put the flowers on the girly hats.

OhComeLetUsADiorHim · 03/12/2007 12:54

Cute hat. I would probably pay £4.99 for one, but is that enough?

purplemonkeydishwasher · 03/12/2007 16:53

see i would put my stuff with ness as opposed to tesco

Gingermonkey · 03/12/2007 19:12

I just paid about £15 for one, similar to yours, monkey.

And may I also say, Boo is still very much well loved by DD (who stole him from DS - despite being 8yrs old, )

purplemonkeydishwasher · 03/12/2007 19:52

oh cool! how is holding up?
i'm tempted to make another to try to sell him on ebay or something. but i do'nt have the incentive of someone waiting for him so i'm finding it hard to make him. anyway, hats are quicker and easier.

bran · 03/12/2007 20:05

How much do you estimate materials cost? I would definitely pay up to £10, or more if I could specify colour/yarn type.

It wouldn't be a great return on your time though, even if you could sell them for much more.

Gingermonkey · 04/12/2007 10:19

monkey, boo is holding up more than excellently - he is really wonderful, and all of DD's friends think so too!!! You should make more, a whole army of them!!!

I have been looking on etsy at beanies and the prices range from just under a tenner to about £15, just as a guide for you. The best place on etsy for them is PDX beanies, but they are closed for chrimbo. I bought mine from there, and it is a stripey, ear flap one like yours. HTH!!!!
