Dolls House refurb

I am the lucky recipient of a gorgeous old-fashioned dolls house ripe for a refurb. I gave done one before, for a little girl so I made it very modern and practical.

I would love to hear your ideas, see any before and after pictures, to inspire me. Not sure if I want to make it ultra modern, or classic, or mid-century modern, or kid friendly, or boho-chic or WHAT.

Hit me with ideas, mumsnetters! I'll post a photo of it when I can (a few phone issues at the moment).

I've only just seen this! I was just thinking today of asking for a dolls house section on Mumsnet, if there is a hobbies corner…

I have done a few, for me as a collector, not for children.
Here is Moonstone Cottage, which is the 2001 Dolls House Emporium Summer House, bought second hand.

I also did a shabby chic one, which was a lot of fun. It's the resin Dolls House Emporium Butterfly Cottage, which I renamed Bluebell Cottage, so the outside didn't need attention.

I like doing stone exteriors with that egg box-like cardboard that you get with new electrical goods, and then painting it for effects.
I use a lot of fimo for little bits, like food and pottery, and air drying clay, for floors and sometimes walls, so I can do brickwork more quickly than sticking on individual ones!

Here is Moonstone Cottage in process and Cobweb Cottage, another version of the same model.
The French windows at the top and the balcony were missing, so I made a replacement and made the semi circular window with dragon embellishment and added trim. I made the tiles from cereal packets.
The bricks are cut from painted sandpaper. This was a long job! For extra martyrdom, I did the back as well…
