Easy to follow sewing patterns

I'm new to sewing , and so far really like tilly and the buttons patterns. I like the fact that they are printed on proper paper , and the simple photographic instructions. Also the fact that I am buying a pattern for one item rather than lots.

Can anyone recommend another brand with a similar style of pattern , as the ones with flimsy brown paper and 12 variations on the make really hurt my eyes , and my brain.

If you don't like the standard patterns on thin brown paper you may prefer downloading patterns to print at home on normal paper.

Downloadable patterns are available direct from companies like Simplicity and Burda. Alternatively you can find free or very cheap ones to download linked to blogs. For instance this pattern for a child's Baker Boy style hat is actually very straightforward-www.clevergirl.org/2010/02/191-read-all-about-it-newsboy-cap-free.html?m=1

I hate print at home patterns, I tend to send them off to an online copy shop to get them printed on A0 paper.

I've made this fridaypatterncompany.com/collections/printed-patterns/products/arlo-track-jacket-printed-pattern and it had very good instructions. Sew Over It patterns have good instruction booklets.

@kittykarate would you mind saying which online printing shop you use? And how do you make sure that the pattern is printed in the right size? Thank you!

I've used dottyprint.co.uk/sewing-pattern-printing/ and www.netprinter.co.uk/sewing-pattern-printing/ for printing. Both understand sewing pattern printing.

I’ve bought a few pdf patterns from patternemporium.com/ . They come with really comprehensive instructions and have a Facebook group where you can get help and advice if you need it.

I’ve used Dotty Print in the past and was happy with them.

@HappyWipings thank you for suggesting Tilly and the Buttons patterns. I've just made the Cleo dungaree dress in 2 days. It was easy to follow and I love the dress.
