Can anyone recommend any good video tutorials for very beginner’s amigurumi please? I’ve been following Bella Coco for the basic beginner stitches but she doesn’t have a beginner’s amigurumi video I don’t think.

Thanks, love the arts and craft section on here - some seriously talented people!

Check out the Knit Grit YouTube video. There are some good videos for beginners.

Basically the greatest thing about amigurumi is that you only need to know how to do UK double/US single crochet and how to count. There's very little else to it apart from when you might want to get into doing neater decreases and tricks to reduce the line that can appear when doing stripes things etc.

One thing I do do with it (I used to do a ridiculous amount of it until I managed to completely fuck my thumb joint with overuse) was that I tie a knitting row counter to my stitch marker (I use the plastic nappy pin type ones - usually whenever magazines are giving them away as freebies) and then I use that to keep count of what row I'm on since in this house I invariably get interrupted constantly.

Thanks Coffee! After some frustration counting (or miscounting) my rows and things not turning out quite right, I watched a couple of the Knit Grit videos and managed to crochet a little ball yesterday - it’s not perfect but a start Smile
