Scrapbooking novice needs help with rub-ons

I have bought a few sheets of rub on transfers for my first attempt at a scrapbook and when I rub them on they stick but when I try to peel the backing paper off the transfer (or even worse only half of it )comes off with it. How do I get them to detach from the backing paper?

I tend to rub and peel at the same time si if it isn't comming off the backing I just rub it a bit more iyswim.

I did try rubbing a bit more as I pulled it off but doesn't seem to work with these. Maybe they are dud ones.

I find this is a problem with certain brands of rub-ons rather than a problem of technique - if youve lifted the paper too early, usually replacinbg it an giving a quick rub solves the problem.

Ive got some from K and Co, usually a good brand, which are awful, and some others ? Doodlebug that are great.
