Can anyone tell me the best way to make them?

Basically I'd like to have a go with the dc and friends (ages 3-7) this weekend with a view to making some for the school Christmas Fair.

Can I use satsumas? (we have a few too many atm), will they shrink massively and look daft or are large oranges better?

TIA!

orange
pin on ribbon
use pin to make holes and then stuff in cloves

Thank you both.

I did a practice one last night. Dd found it this morning and went a bit beserk with a pile of satsumas and pack of cloves!!

It was the ribbon part I couldn't work out but I think I'll use glue and then make a bow looping it through the top join.

I did buy a coupleof large oranges and they have ended up as juice.

I made these a few times and they've gone all mouldy - you're meant to shake them in a bag full of something from the chemist which completely escapes me ! if it comes to me I'll get back to you - might've been orris root powder ?
