Necchi Millepunti 858 Coverstitch machine help

For my sins I have just purchased one of these second hand. I am short waisted and garments like t- shirts are often too long on me, so I was hoping this machine would enable me to shorten them nicely. I have done basic sewing before, but have never used a coverstitch machine. I tried to follow the manual, but got a bit lost with the threading and I don't think I did it correctly. Is anyone familiar with this same machine and might be able to show me the ropes when restrictions allow, or have a chat? I really hope I haven't wasted my money!!

I had a Necchi coverstitch, although a different model. I had it for 14 months before I ended up selling it as spares and repairs. I lost £600 on it. When it worked it was amazing, but getting parts was impossible. Couldn't get blades, and then something went and it just stopped working. My usual repair man said he didn't know what was wrong and it could be costly to find out as the parts are so hard to source. I called it quits at that point and went back to Janome. Sorry, I know that isn't what you want to hear, but getting it threaded is the least of your worries. You are best consulting a local sewing machine repair shop who can show you what to do.

Thank you so much for your reply @delilahbucket. I've managed to get the machine threaded with help from my husband and the machine is stitching well so far. Sorry you have had such a difficult time with yours.
